On Saturday 22 February, the Mayor of Wisbech, Cllr Michael Hill joined around 300 people to celebrate the start of Lent.
The Uzgavenes (Mardi Gras) is a Lithuanian celebration held in public squares, parks or family houses to mark the start of the seventh week before Easter and is their version of the British Pancake Day.

The Mayor of Wisbech, Cllr Michael Hill, was very pleased to be invited by The Mayor of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Cllr Geoffrey Hipperson to attend the traditional opening ceremony of the King's Lynn Mart on Friday 14 February.
