Wisbech History Walk - Free

Thu, 22 Jul 2021 10:00

The Wisbech Post is grateful to Nick Meekins, Wisbech guide and a fount of knowledge about the town, for agreeing to host a 2 hour tour of some of Wisbech's many interesting sites.

Starting at 10:00am by the Clarkson Memorial on Bridge Street, we will we will find out the story of this great man, and the even more fascinating story of his brother, which very few know…

Across the bridge, stopping to hear the amazing story of the 'Riot House' and thence to the Town Hall. As well as the centre of civic life in Wisbech it is also a building that has many secrets and stories waiting to be told. We will see the incredible Mayor's robes and chain of office and examine the ancient charters that established the town.

As with all our activities the tour is free, thanks to funding from CLLD/ESF. Please get in touch if you wish to attend.

WTC Full Council Meeting

Mon, 26 Jul 2021 19:30

As you will be aware, the next meeting of Wisbech Town Council is scheduled currently for 26 July 2021. However, there are no items requiring decisions by the Council at this time; I am sure members would agree that there is no point in holding a meeting for the sake of it.

Also, the council will be submitting a response to the consultation by MVV in relation to the proposed incinerator for Wisbech. The deadline for the submission of representations is 13 August 2021.

To enable sufficient time for the council's planning advisers, Swann Edwards, to produce a draft response to the consultation exercise and to provide the Council with the opportunity to agree a final response before 13 August 2021, it is proposed that the meeting of the Council which is scheduled currently for 26 July 2021 be "put back" to 9 August 2021.

The agenda for that meeting will be published on 3 August 2021.
