After Hours Live - Marc James

After Hours Live - Marc James

Fri, 03 May 2019 19:00

Marc James

After Hours Live is a monthly live music event that takes place on the first Friday of every month in Wisbech, the heart of the Fens. It combines first-class entertainment with a twist of faith. Performers come from far and wide across the UK, as well as some great home-grown local talent.

The doors of Octavia's café open at 7pm open and the kettle is put on the boil, brewing up steaming cups of tea and luscious cappuccinos and lattes. Free entry means that you can come and enjoy the comfortable cafe atmosphere and still be able to afford a cup of your favorite beverage and maybe even treat yourself to an indulgent slice of cake! Some performers may also bring CDs they have recorded or books they have written that will also be available on the night.

Profits made in the café go to our local homeless charity, The Ferry Project.

Connie's Colander

Connie's Colander

Thu, 16 May 2019 14:30

Connie is a retired domestic science teacher. Emily, her daughter, is enjoying hosting her first TV cookery show: Connie's Colander, bringing her mother's recipes onscreen and up to date. Sensitively, with humour and tenderness this newly written play traces the evolving relationship throughout their lives, and the impact of Connie's Alzheimer's. Can their relationship, and the TV show, survive?

Running time 50 mins.
Followed by a 20 minute post-show Q&A with a dementia specialist.

An informal atmosphere is created for the Q&A, facilitated by the two actors, with local dementia specialists able to signpost people to their local services. Building on the story within the play, the audience is also encouraged to share their own experiences, both to 'offload' and also to help support fellow audience members, if appropriate.

Free but donations welcomed

QEH Board Meeting

Tue, 28 May 2019 10:30

Meetings of the Board of Directors

Members of the public are welcome to attend meetings of the Board of Directors.

You will be able to ask questions and to raise any points of concern but these opportunities will be limited to certain parts of the agenda at the discretion of the Chair. These are 'meetings held in public' rather than general public meetings.

Patients and residents are being invited to attend the session with directors of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.

Board meetings normally take place at the hospital's site in King's Lynn. But the trust's chairman, Professor Steve Barnett, said they felt they needed to be more accessible to the public across the wider region that it serves. North Cambridgeshire Hospital is an important part of the QEH family. As a board, we feel it is important to be visible to all parts of the Trust for our staff and patients. That is why we have decided to hold the next board meeting in Wisbech to allow our staff to attend as well as members of the public. I would like to encourage our Cambridgeshire patients to come along and find out more about your local hospital.
