Silver Monday - Rotary Club & Luxe Cinema
Mon, 18 Sep 2023 10:30
Silver Monday is a project that was set up by a Team to help the more elderly in our community, to give them an opportunity to have a day out once a month, to mix with others, and to watch a film. It takes place at the Light Cinema, Wisbech, normally on the third Monday of each monthMany people in our community live in rural areas, and/or in isolation due to reduced mobility. The team helps signpost travel providers who can collect and return people with no transport (usually for a fee).Doors open at 9.30 am. Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits are served, giving everyone a chance to sit and meet others, share stories etc. From time to time selected partners like Cambs County Council, Fire Service etc. are invited to offer valuable help and advice. The film starts at 10.30 am, and usually everyone is out by around 12-12.30 when they might go home or visit one of the nearby restaurants for lunch or do some shopping at the supermarket situated on the same site. All of this costs £3 and is open to anyone over 60 years of age. Films are advertised in advance on the website. At each showing tickets for the next will be available for purchase or they can be bought using the contact methods below.
